Renee French covers Havok and Wolverine: Meltdown

Original cover by Kent Williams; Marvel, 1989. Renee French's website is here.

  1. Oh boy, I definitely prefer Renee's! It is powerful and moving. Because the style of mainstream comics usually never ventures too far into other styles, they don't have the impact these re-do's do!

  2. Good job, Renee. I totally agree with Andrew.

  3. This book was SO CRAZY. Man, I have to go back and re-read it. @Andrew Wales -- trust me, this book definitely ventured really, really far into another style. I could hardly read it at the time because the art was so weird, but I think I'd really appreciate it today.

I really like that French really changed the cover. A few of these have adhered too much to the original, but that's no surprise as this idea takes shape. Way to push it, though, Ms. French!

Really have to go find my old copies of this craziest of X-tie-ins. Wow. Talk about a blast from the past.

  4. Wow, love it.
This reminds me of "Where the Wild Things are"...
