Very nicely done! If I where the baseman, I wouldn't be standing there if a 500 lb gorilla came sliding into me-I'd either be running, or on my knees crying hysterically.
I've been reading Fred's massive Archives / Omnibus and quite a few of his covers are reprinted in it going back to the 70's. I think you might be right, Andrew. He's the patron saint of the Covered blog.
In the Archives / Omnibus, Fred has some autobio stories about his early experiences with comics as a kid in the late 50's and 60's that are really enjoyable. That was an enviable time to be a comic reading kid and Fred was picking up those early Marvels and wacky 60's DC's as they were coming out. He was also picking up a lot of oddball stuff from other publishers as well. Very interesting book and a great guide for anyone interested in old comics that may have been forgotten. In fact, I wasn't familiar with Pat Boyette until running Fred's Peacemaker cover.
Love the curly Q knees.

ReplyDeleteHembeck is awesome. As far as I'm concerned, he is the one that started this trend of "re-covering" comics!
