A fun exploration. I just think it's hard to compare to R. Crumb...or Herge no less. Their art just isn't lacking anything to me, and they're enduring staples without need of change. But! That said, there's nothing wrong with paying homage I guess, and your taste in artists in definitely on the mark!
I'd never dare compare myself to Crumb or Herge...my only goal here is to pay homage to those "hypnotic" covers that, for one reason or another, burned their way into my brain as a kid :)
I have this button on my man-bag. Not only does the lack of leg-hair make it fetal, but also the ethereal "floating" achieved by removing the jump lines. The background looks more aquatic also.
in the immortal words of eric cartman: "well, sunuva bitch!!"
ReplyDeleterad tribute — the lack of leg-hair gives an almost fetal vibe...
... or not.
Great!
ReplyDeleteVery Cool ! Jourdan rules !!
ReplyDeleteNice! It's an interesting juxtaposition between the "comix" style roughness of Crumb and modern colouring that really smooths things out.
ReplyDeleteIt rocks, the texture on the wall and the highlights on the floor give it a nice feel while still being true to the source
ReplyDeleteHermoso!!!
ReplyDeleteDiego te metiste con uno de los groso!
ReplyDeleteY saliste aireoso, si que si.
