Remember the good 'ol days when a bunch of super heroes got together and they wouldn't fight or question whether or not they were wanted on the team? Instead they would pose for a big photo, all smiles; maybe take up a game of ping pong afterwards or go for a swim (in costume).
It's true...it looks a little South-Parkish. They were no influence on me but I was trying to do as flat a take on the characters to really contrast the rendering of Neal Adams. The Spectre in particular ended up looking like South Park. I had all kinds of ideas for the cover but ultimately went with the Wonder Woman gag. I was going to involve Atom somehow....but kept him with Hawkman. The thing that cracks me up is that poor Dr. Mid-Nite doesn't have any idea what's going down.
Super Spectacular At Last!
ReplyDeletePoor Hawkman
Awesome! The expressions are great. I was reading that exact comic just the other day. :D
ReplyDeleteEnlarge Vukojevich's cover and you can see that everyone is looking at Wonder Woman's unfortunate nipple slip. Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteWhos'the guy in between GL and Dr. Fate?
I was wondering that too. He looks like an adult Robin.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see Wonder Woman's nipple until 2 days after Anthony sent me this and I made it my desktop at work. I nearly peed myself.

ReplyDeleteHere's a key to the characters:

Earth 2 Robin in his "unfortunate" (to say the least) first costume.
ReplyDeletei think Robin is more interested in Batman's package.
ReplyDeleteLove the grumpy and gleeful Batman (Batmen?)
ReplyDeleteHa! Great!
ReplyDeleteSince this has a nip-slip, I wonder if the Huffington Post will link to it...
ReplyDeletereminds me of a South Park cartoon

Marvelous cover, enjoying closely inspecting it - for research purposes of course.
ReplyDeleteI made this a desktop for my phone. I can't read a thing now.
