Thanks!! Yes, it is true that translators (in several countries) often take great liberties. Like Dieter says, Isabelle is not a common name either, but I suppose it was decided that it sounded more acceptable to a large audience. All the characters' names have been translated to make them sound like they came out of domestic novels from around 1900. Which was a good choice in this case, I think.
