  2. Oh god. This is *amazing*! I was just unpacking some comics yesterday and came across my copies of FF 58-60, so I was thinking of this era. I so would have bought your cover.

  3. Ingenious. My head hurts with the postmodernism.

  5. Thanks for the nice comments! The basic premise here is the worst-selling issue of FF ever. Imagine a kid walking into the drugstore, going to the comic stand and seeing this cover. The next cover submission will probably be a non-Kirby one. Kirby's really fun to do, though.

  6. I think what is also great about it is that it shows Kirby/Lee knew they had a great character in Silver Surfer. How many C list characters have been created over the years that were originally touted as "The next greatest..." I like to think of this cover as from an alternate universe where Silver Surfer was a flop like some kind of Marvel Premiere character (Woodgod, anyone?).

  7. It strikes me a bit like "What If Drawn and Quarterly published the Fantastic Four drawn by Adrian Tomine?"

  8. Terrific!

We college kids wearing hats like that in 1966?

  12. I wouldn't have touched an issue with a cover like this at the time but now it looks like exactly my type of comic. Fantastic work.
