Dieter Van der Ougstraete covers Conan de Barbaar Special 5
Original cover by John Buscema; JuniorPress BV, 1986 (cover reprinted from Conan the Barbarian 78, Marvel 1977). Dieter Van der Ougstraete's website is here.
One thing I enjoy about doing this blog is seeing non-North American comics I haven't heard of and seeing foreign editions of American material. Conan de Barbaar is better than the english title.
Oh yeah...I love the foreign titles. Die Spinne is Spidey, I think. I first went to Germany the week the Conan movie was released there and saw Conan de Barbaar (the barber?) posters everywhere. This was a comic that I wanted to cover...but now I won't because Dieter did an incredible job. I love it! It conveys the violence about to erupt with much more intensity that J.B.'s original.
Oh man! Awesome! I love this. Great work!

ReplyDeletethis is a victory. I could easily imagine an animated Conan series in Mr. Van der Ougstraete's style at right. I'm willing it to happen!
