I don't get the complaints about the cartoon look. I think it's a great cover and you're treating the big green guy in the purple shorts with the gravitas he deserves.
Anonymous likes to surface every now and then to voice his displeasure over people having fun. It somehow besmirches the integrity of the original cover in his (her) mind...I think. Anyway, obviously the owner of the site disagrees with Anonymous' strict orthodoxy, so I'm sure we'll be seeing humorous takes (as well as serious, arty, clever, and mirror-image takes) on classic covers for some time to come. As it should be.
No, I don't mind cartoony takes on non-cartoony covers, or non-cartoony takes of cartoony covers, as long as it's executed well.
I do take some perverse pleasure in imagining Anonymous out there somewhere waking up in the morning, enjoying his /her coffee and thinking, "Ah, nice sunny spring morning, I guess I'll see if something interesting is on Covered today. God, I hope it's not a cartoony cover of a super hero comic again. Please don't be cartoony, please don't be cartoony... (spit takes) God DAMMIT! Again! Again with the cartoony super hero covers! Why do they do this?! That's not what Loki looks like! Look at how small he is in the composition! That's not menacing! It was such a beautiful spring morning and now it's ruined!"
I love it! Very cute style.
ReplyDeleteLOL! It is wonderful!! Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteHa! Great.
ReplyDeleteAwful, weak, lame.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you do this?
So very sick of cartoon-ified covers.
I do this just to torment you, Anonymous (apparently different from the first Anonymous). The more you bitch, the more I'll make. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, thanks to the folks who enjoyed the cover...despite it falling so far short of Anonymous' exacting standards.
