thanks aviv! I did tell Robert when I submitted it that I'm native american (Oneida and Menominee) so this cover always stood out to me, it's just so darn absurd. Kinda like the Batman as a indian chief image. That and taking a jab at the Cleveland Indians logo kinda worked itself into this piece.
BOTH AWESOME in their own way! The first one just has me with it's oldschool, weird, "idea seeking" kind of way of finding topics for Comics. You know like: "Ah, with what kind of a mix can we come up with now??? We need ideas!" Love the pure Illustration and poster feel of Rusty's, there.
Looks more like "Rex - The Stoned Dog", judging by the original cover.
ReplyDeleteI'll suggest enlarging this covered version, otherwise you'll be missing out. Looking good, Rusty!

ReplyDeleteWow. Yours is such an improvement. Your rex actually looks more friendly, and less like he has rabies than the original.
ReplyDeleteJust realized that you did that great Thing/Sandman cover not too long ago. I dug that one as well.
ReplyDeleteThe original almost looks like "Rex the Polar Bear". The new incarnation is a large improvement.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
